Dapol N gauge class 142 'First Look'
We are pleased to be able to publish here a 'first look' at the cad/cam of the class 142 "twin railcar" announced in October.
As mentioned it is a 'first look' and as such a lot of work still needs to be done to the design before production can start.
We are not happy about the underfloor mechanism and are looking at ways of minimising this, including; Changing the motor for a smaller one and/ or having the total area under the bottom of the window filled with mechanism and gearbox.
The model is being designed with our soon to be released 'touching' corridor connections, and will feature working 'Scharfenburg' couplers at each end, have DCC capability through a 6 pin NEM651 socket, directional lighting, low friction mechanism and 8 wheel pickup (4 wheel drive). The passenger windows, as in keeping with 'best practice' will continue to be "see through".
Different headcode panels and side doors are also being catered for in our design.
