Graham Farish, the leading manufacturer of British N scale model railways, exhibited its latest products and announced three brand new models to join its expanding Blue Riband range at the N Gauge International Exhibition today (12 September 2009).
Factory painted Class 24 diesel locomotives and the first samples of the previously announced BR Standard 3MT 2-6-2T were displayed for the first time alongside MBA and MOA modern bogie open wagons announced earlier this year.
Two new locomotives were announced and samples from the completed tooling shown for the BR Standard 4MT 76000 Class and a brand new LMS Black 5 4-6-0 to replace the original Farish model first released in 1978. This model utilises brand new tooling and the successful tender drive unit developed for the Jubilee and Royal Scot Class locomotives.
The GWR ‘Toad’ brake van has been retooled to replace another popular model from the inherited range. The original model dates back to the very first Farish releases on to the market in the early 1970s.
For the past few years’ new models have incorporated NEM coupling pockets to enable alternative coupling types to be provided. Bachmann USA have developed a new knuckle type automatic coupling which will also be available next year as part of the Graham Farish range.
Graham Hubbard, Managing Director of Bachmann Europe Plc. said today “Graham Farish has lead the way in British N gauge modelling for almost 40 years. It is the only range to offer a complete package of locomotives, coaches, wagons, track, buildings and accessories. Since Bachmann Europe Plc acquired the company in 2000 and upgraded the inherited models, we have now reached the stage where we can concentrate solely on the provision of brand new models, reinforcing our commitment to this developing scale. We have used this weekend to showcase new products and announce new products for which tooling has now been completed and which will be on sale over the next few months. These are exciting times and it is very much full steam ahead at Graham Farish”.
