Fruity vehicles from Graham Farish

Graham Farish have recently completed the tooling for a British Railways 12 Ton Plywood Fruit van. This previously unannounced item has now arrived at Barwell for checking and was revealed for the first time at the Annual Bachmann Open Days held on 19/20 July at Barwell.
After initially producing small batches of vans to pre-nationalisation designs, British Railways produced a variation on the standard ventilated van for fruit traffic use. Produced to diagram 1/233 (based on the LMS design), the obvious external detail was the feature of four external scoop type ventilators just above sole bar level. Internal hinged shelving was also fitted.
A total of 300 vans were built at Faverdale Wagon Works, Darlington between 1953 and 1957 in the number series B875550 to B875849.
This plywood sided fruit van will initially be released as 377-625 in BR early bauxite livery and 377-626 in BR late bauxite livery.
The N gauge version utilises the research carried out for the OO versions, which were first released in 2008. The N gauge version will not be released until late this year.
