Since the acquisition of the exLima tools there has been a steady demand for the return of the 6 wheel milk tankers, a demand which Hornby are now pleased to have addressed. Soon to be available will be three 6 wheeled milk tankers using some of the tooling which was obtained when Hornby purchased certain assets of Lima. However, Hornby have completely retooled the chassis using a GWR design pattern and incorporating NEM pockets fitted with Hornby couplings.
The three milk tankers (Express Dairy, United Dairies and Aplin & Barrett Ltd.) will be available in September at a suggested retail price of approximately £6.75.
“These new wagons are a real addition to the Hornby range and will prove to be a very popular part of the Hornby wagon range.” said Simon Kohler, “and will no doubt continue to be as more liveries are released over time.”
King Uther replaces the Red Knight
The eagerly awaited release of the N15 Class “Red Knight” locomotive has been postponed for the foreseeable future due to inaccuracies found with the intended detail of the model. It has transpired that the prototype “Red Knight” was fitted with a unique set of smoke deflectors which do not form, at the present moment the tool bank which make up the Hornby N15 Class models.
“After being contacted by a keen modeller” said Simon Kohler, “I made enquiries and discovered that the smoke deflectors on the “Red Knight” were unique to that locomotive and as we did not have the tooling for the correct deflectors I felt it prudent that we should replace the “Red Knight” with another locomotive from the same class and one that we can produce accurately”
“Hopefully the modellers will accept my reasoning” continued Simon, “but do rest assured we will eventually produce the “Red Knight” but only when we have tooled the correct components”.
