Vendor Description (OnTracks)NEW BR Class T9 30724 BR Black, early emblem, narrow cab and water acrt tender - period 1949.

The Drummond T9 Class were originally built for the LSWR between 1899 and 1900. Originally fitted with cross water tube boilers, they were all rebuilt with conventional boilers, super-heaters, larger smokeboxes and stovepipe chimneys by Robert Urie. The entire class also acquired bogie water-cart tenders and saw service on the famous ocean liner expresses.

Due to their swift-running ability the class were known as Greyhounds and were well liked by loco crews. Over 20 continued in service with Britsh Railways and the last examples were withdrawn in 1961 with one, 30120, being reserved as part of the National Collection.
